BUSINESSES:

LIBA is only as strong as our membership! We invite all locally-owned, independent businesses to become a LIBA member and let your voice be heard.

Business Members must be able to answer YES to each of the following questions:

   1. Is your business privately held? (not publicly traded) (yes or no)
   2. Is your primary place of business located in the Louisville metro area with no corporate or national headquarters outside this area? (yes or no)
   3. Can your business make independent decisions regarding the name and look of your business, as well as all business purchasing, practices and distribution? (yes or no)
   4. Do you pay all your own marketing, rent and other business expenses without assistance from, or payment to, a corporate headquarters? (yes or no)

If you answered no to any of the above questions (except #2), you can still become an Affiliate. Fill out the regular business application and indicate your answers to the questions (DOWNLOAD HERE). Contact Summer Auerbach if you do not qualify to be Business Member or an Affiliate, but would like to support LIBA.

Business Member Benefits:

•    Members are part of the collective voice of Louisville’s independent businesses.
•    Local businesses from communities with ongoing “Buy Local” campaigns reported stronger sales than businesses from communities lacking such efforts.
•    LIBA provides increased community awareness about the reasons to support local and independent businesses such as yours through advertising and events.
•    You’ll receive invitations to monthly LIBA member networking meetings and other events in our monthly e-newsletter. (You can also host one of these events at your business.)
•    Your business will receive a complimentary listing in our LIBA member directory (15,000 distributed throughout the city twice a year).
•    Businesses in LIBA often make an effort to buy from each other, and some LIBA members choose to offer special inter-member discounts to other members.
•    Complimentary signage and materials for your business to show that you are a member of LIBA and a locally-owned, independent business.
•    Complimentary Buy Local bag stuffers to distribute to customers (available for pick up at member meetings).
•    Link to your business website from www.keeplouisvilleweird.com.
•    Communicate with your fellow LIBA Members via our Google Group.
•    Post your events on our LIBA website calendar.
•    Use the LIBA logo on your materials.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS

Become a Weird Friend! By supporting the mission/goals of LIBA and donating $10/year, you'll receive this special "Spread The Weird: Buy Local" sticker (exclusively for individual members) and our monthly email updates. Weird Friends are encouraged to become volunteers, to recruit members, and spread the word about the importance of supporting local independent businesses in the Louisville community.
